Boldly emerging onto the pop landscape with lush cinematic production and raw emotional clarity, Canadian-born, New York–based artist Tori Lord makes her official debut with “Never Be,” a dream-like, atmospheric track produced by Marty Martino (Down With Webster) and co-written with Theo Tams (Canadian Idol winner).
Guided by mentor Rob Wells (Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez), Lord delivers a sound that’s both vulnerable and sure of itself—reflective, honest, and quietly powerful. With layered harmonies shaped by her choral roots and a sonic landscape built for late-night reflection, “Never Be” captures the moment you realize the love you believed in was never real—and that taking responsibility for your own heart is what sets you free.
“It’s not about blaming him,” says Lord. “’Never Be’ is about that moment of honesty—when you realize the anger isn’t directed at him, but at yourself, for opening your heart to someone who couldn’t hold it.”
The music video — directed by award winning cinematographer Chris Barcia — visually mirrors the song’s duality: a woman caught between illusion and reality as she moves through the city.
About Tori Lord:
A lifelong musician, Tori Lord began singing with the Canadian Children’s Opera Company (CCOC) and Toronto Children’s Chorus (TCC) before performing alongside Celine Dion on her Let’s Talk About Love world tour.
After earning her Commerce degree from Queen’s University’s Smith School of Business, she built Top Knot Inc., a patented women-led headwear brand featured on TSC, QVC, Khloé Kardashian’s Good American, and national retailers including Golf Town, Running Room and Sporting Life.
Having mastered the art of building brands and connecting emotionally with audiences, Lord now brings that same creative precision and storytelling power to her music. She’s crafting a new kind of pop grounded in mature lived experience. Her songs don’t romanticize heartbreak; they look it dead in the eye. This isn’t the sound of naïve love lost—it’s the voice of a woman who’s lived enough to know that pain and clarity can coexist. “Never Be” is the first glimpse of that truth and marks the beginning of Lord’s debut EP, a greater project centred around growth, self love and personal evolution.
