The Rudimental Blueprint
Drummer, educator, and author Jeff Asselin announces the release of The Rudimental Blueprint, a ground-breaking new resource for percussionists at all levels. The book was co-written with legendary educator Chuck Burrows and edited by Matt Savage.

With over 100 solos and duets, The Rudimental Blueprint is more than just a collection of exercises, it is a comprehensive learning system designed to guide drummers from foundational strokes to advanced techniques. Built on a social constructivist philosophy of education, the book introduces material through a scaffolded, step-by-step progression that helps students internalize rudiments and apply them musically.

Each video playlist offers multiple versions of every solo at varying tempos — beginning with slow, counted practice pad demonstrations and progressing to full snare drum performance renditions. The Rudimental Blueprint also honors the legacy of Chuck Burrows, who, throughout his career, authored 12 pedagogical books on drumming, covering topics ranging from rudiments and reading to linear concepts, Latin studies, and groove construction. Before his passing in 2019, Burrows entrusted Asselin with his life’s work. Asselin now continues that mission, reissuing and expanding the Burrows pedagogy for a new generation of drummers.
