Stories from the Edge of Music

Stories from the Edge of Music

Richard Flohil is a Canadian music promoter, publicist, former Mariposa Folk Festival artistic director and journalist based in Toronto.[Henow runs a public relations company, Richard Flohil and Associates

Stories from The Edge of Music is a growing collection of stories from Richard's over 60 years history in the music industry. This is a fascinating collection from someone who has had an extraordinary career in the Canadian music industry.

The collection features encounters with an incredible range of artists. As Flohil describes it, you'll find "word portraits of musicians as diverse as Miles Davis and Stompin' Tom Connors, Louis Armstrong and Loreena McKennitt, the Downchild Blues Band and Charlie Watts, Alice Cooper and Ray Charles, comedian Billy Connolly and Nana Mouskouri."

The stories are deeply personal and behind-the-scenes, covering everything from backstage encounters to touring experiences. For example, there are stories about Rush on the road in 1980, Miles Davis signing autographs backstage, and working with artists like Solomon Burke and Nana Mouskouri.
