Sarah Hiltz

Toronto-based indie folk artist Sarah Hiltz released her new single, "When The Seasons Change", on June 20, 2025—the Summer Solstice—via Bandcamp, with a wide release on Spotify, Apple Music, and all other major streaming platforms.
"When The Seasons Change" is the second single from Hiltz’s upcoming self-produced EP Ritual, and offers a gentle and evocative reflection on friendship that endures through the many literal and metaphorical seasons of life. Told in vivid vignettes, each verse captures a different moment in a friendship that has spanned most of the artist’s life.
“Life rarely unfolds the way we imagine,” says Hiltz. “Of all the beautiful and deeply difficult things that happen in life, what I’ve found to be the most transformative is the depth of love I have experienced, especially with the people who have walked with me through every one of those beautiful and difficult moments. I don’t know what I would have done without their love.”
Layered with autumnal acoustic textures and Hiltz’s characteristically emotive vocals, "When The Seasons Change" continues the sonic and thematic palette introduced in her September 2024 single, "I’ll Take That Sky". While that duet explored the grief and beauty of crossing life’s thresholds, this new release turns its gaze toward the anchors that carry us over those crossings.

Both songs appear on Ritual, Hiltz’s forthcoming EP due Fall 2025. Inspired by her research into liminality—those in-between spaces where transformation occurs—Ritual explores the customs, endings, and initiations that help us navigate change. True to the EP’s themes, Hiltz chose to record and produce the project herself, marking a personal rite of passage in her evolution as an artist and producer.
