Honey Jam kicked off their first official event of their 30th anniversary season on Monday, May 12 with an artist talk featuring Juno Award-winning artistSadBoi, fresh off the end of her tour and a surprise appearance at the Rema concert at Scotiabank Arena.Interviewed by MuchMusic VJ Verdah, the conversation was insightful and engaging about her journey in the industry so far with input from her "momager" Santasha Cato. The wide-ranging talk covered branding, her creative process, career goals, bouncing back from setbacks, having her mom as her manager and navigating the industry in general since childhood.It's been 15 years since SadBoi first came to a Honey Jam event as a child, saying "When I think about first auditioning when I was like 11 years old to actually being on the stage and talking for Honey Jam's 30th anniversary, it means everything. So I'm just really grateful and really happy to be here and be a part of it. I think what Ebonnie is doing is amazing. When I was a little girl, seeing her create something like Honey Jam for girls to come and showcase their talent and to look and see where it is now, I'm just happy to be a part of it."
Later this month Honey Jam will be producing a Project Management Workshop, participating in Tempo's Countdown to 2026 launch as the city heats up in anticipation of the WNBA franchise as well as the Hollywood Reporter Women in Entertainment Canada Awards. Their artist talk series will continue throughout the year with another Juno Award winner Aqyila featured later in the summer.The main event is the 30th anniversary concert coming up on Wednesday, July 30 at Massey Hall. Titled “INSPIRATIONS,” the concert promises to be a dynamic evening of music that spans several genres including Hip Hop, Jazz, Pop, Gospel, Opera, RnB, Rock, Country, DanceHall and more! Role modeling and mentoring are central to Honey Jam’s mission of inspiring new generations of artists, and in tandem with the concert theme, featured vocalists will perform songs by the icons who have inspired them.
