El Mocambo Announces New Ownership

One of Canada’s most storied music venues is entering an exciting new chapter. The Ontario Superior Court of Justice today approved the sale of the El Mocambo’s assets to a company controlled by Cyrus Madon, following a sales process conducted by EY.Under the new ownership, Mike Chalut will continue in his leadership role as Executive Director. Chalut has played a pivotal role in the venue’s revitalization, curating more than 1,500 events in recent years and reestablishing the El Mocambo as one of Canada’s top destinations for live entertainment, branded experiences, and cultural events.

”Since 1948, the El Mocambo has been a cornerstone of Toronto’s cultural and musical identity, hosting legendary performances by The Rolling Stones, U2, Joan Jett, Gordon Lightfoot, and David Foster. With its state-of-the-art stage, recording and streaming studios, and iconic atmosphere, the El Mocambo is poised to remain one of the most vibrant, dynamic, and versatile venues in the country.The transaction, which remains subject to customary conditions, is expected to close in the coming weeks.
